Old Cobb is a legendary hunter and trapper who has been living in Alver for several decades. He is known for his tall tales about the creatures that roam the nearby forests and mountains. The most famous of his tales is about the Mountain That Moves , a giant earth elemental that resembles a tortoise the size of a hill. Though most people dismiss it as a myth, some locals claim to have caught a glimpse of the creature at night.

- The party in Alver investigated rumours of the Zaratan. They found that the Zaratan was in the mountains and foothills to the north and known as the Mountain that Moves. An elderly hunter, Old Cobb, told the party what he knew about it. The party, at the local tavern, hired various sellswords to help them defeat the Mountain that Moves.
